Fremantle Traffic Bridge – Western Australia
Project Overview
The Fremantle Traffic Bridge replacement is a significant transport-infrastructure upgrade for one of WA’s most critical river crossings. The project required complex staging, temporary works, and precision fabrication to support structural construction activities over the Swan River. Tight tolerances, high-risk work environments, and integration with marine works required reliable, compliant, and well-engineered components.

Level Steel’s Scope of Work
In October 2024, Level Steel was engaged to fabricate and supply a range of structural and temporary-works components essential to the bridge’s construction sequencing. Our scope included:
- Welded pile rings for structural stability and construction support
- Lower pylon formwork for controlled, accurate construction of bridge pylons
- Segment 0 components, fabricated to strict tolerances to support the initial stages of superstructure works
- Rebar tower fabrication, enabling safe reinforcement placement
- Movable handrail systems providing safe access for construction teams
- Beam stitch components for structural connection works
- Stressing platforms engineered for post-tensioning activities
- T-Roff brackets fabricated for structural and installation requirements
- Falsework tower collars, built for stability and construction support over live water
All components were fabricated under ISO 9001-certified processes and delivered with full traceability and QA documentation.
Technical & Quality Deliverables
- Compliance with AS/NZS 1554.1, AS/NZS 5131, and project-specific Transport WA requirements
- ITP-driven inspection processes for welding, fabrication, and dimensional checks
- Full material traceability including heat numbers, mill certs, and welding records
- Coating and corrosion-protection compliance for marine-exposed environments
- Integration support for site teams to ensure efficient installation sequencing
