Mandurah Bridge – Freyssinet Launch Nose

Project Overview

The Mandurah Bridge upgrade required the fabrication of a large, high-strength launch nose to support incremental bridge-launching works. These components must be dimensionally precise, engineered for structural performance, and capable of supporting extreme loads during installation.

Date Completed

Mar–Dec 2024

Level Steel’s Scope of Work

Between May and August 2024, Level Steel fabricated key components for the Freyssinet launch-nose system, including:

  • A 90-tonne, 35-metre structural launch nose
  • Precision-machined bearing plates and guide systems
  • Components fabricated for controlled bridge launching and alignment

All works were delivered under strict QA and ITP controls.

Technical & Quality Deliverables

  • High-accuracy fabrication to meet engineered tolerances
  • Full welding inspection and NDT compliance
  • Material traceability & dimensional verification throughout fabrication
  • ISO 9001-certified QA system compliance

Project Outcome

The launch nose and structural components were delivered on program and to specification, enabling safe and controlled bridge-launching operations for the Mandurah Bridge project.
